Alberta RCMP have issued an urgent Amber Alert for a six-year-old boy who was taken from a small community near the Alberta-British Columbia border. Authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings immediately.
The child, identified as Lanakai Morrison, was taken on Tuesday from Valhalla Centre, a hamlet located approximately 63 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie. He is described as having a slight build with long, light-brown hair and brown eyes.
Investigators believe the young boy may be traveling with his mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, and her partner, 35-year-old Daniel Ludwig. Morrison is described as 173 centimetres tall with a medium build, long dark brown hair and brown eyes. Ludwig stands at 180 centimetres with a large build, brown hair and brown eyes. Police also indicate that another child, four-year-old Karl Morrison, may be with the group.
On Thursday afternoon, authorities released updated information about the vehicle they believe is being used. The group may be traveling in a 2006 red Ford F350 pickup truck bearing Alberta license plate number CXW8820.
Police are urging anyone who spots the individuals or the vehicle not to approach them under any circumstances. Instead, residents should immediately contact 911 to report any sightings. The safety of the children remains the top priority for investigators working on this case.
