The Calgary Stampeders are riding high as they prepare to face the Montreal Alouettes this Saturday night, seeking to extend their winning streak to three games. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. delivered a memorable performance last week that will be difficult to replicate when his team visits the defending champions.
Adams Jr. put on a spectacular show against the Toronto Argonauts, throwing for 405 yards and six touchdowns while adding a rushing score in Calgary’s dominant 58-36 victory. His efficiency was remarkable, completing 20 of 25 passes without a single interception, placing him among only five players in CFL history to achieve such numbers in a single game.
The Stampeders offense has been firing on all cylinders, currently leading the league in offensive points per game with 37.8 and boasting 19 offensive touchdowns. Running back Dedrick Mills, last year’s rushing champion, continues to be a force with 339 yards on 60 carries. Receivers Tevin Jones and Canadian Jalen Philpot have emerged as key targets, combining for over 220 yards and three touchdowns in the Argonauts game.
Montreal enters the matchup with a 3-1 record after enjoying a bye week following their narrow victory over Ottawa. Quarterback Davis Alexander ranks second in passing yards with 1,478, while receiver Tyson Philpot, twin brother of Calgary’s Jalen, leads the CFL in catches with 36 and receiving yards with 587. The Alouettes’ strong offensive line has allowed just three sacks this season, presenting a significant challenge for Calgary’s pass rush.
In other CFL action, the Edmonton Elks host the winless Ottawa Redblacks on Thursday night. Edmonton looks to bounce back from their first loss of the season against BC, while Ottawa desperately seeks their first victory of the 2026 campaign after four consecutive defeats to start the year.
